These dogs are alert, devoted, and affectionate. While they are quick to obey their masters, they are extremely brave. These dogs are comical and enjoy playing with different objects. They are great with children who do not hurt them and make good family dogs. These dogs are not easy to train and are not recommended for the first time dog owner. If they are well trained, they can behave around other dogs. If they are not properly trained, they will be aggressive to any dogs they encounter. These dogs like to hunt and should be supervised when they are around smaller animals.

Health Problems

These dogs have kneecaps that can easily be dislocated, and they may also develop eye problems that are genetic. Some can become deaf, while others may develop a condition called Legg Perthes, which damages the joints in their hips. The Parson Russell Terrier has a life expectancy of about 15 years.

The Parson Russell Terrier is a dog that is independent and can exercise itself. However, it will need to at least have a small yard where it can run around and play. It is a good breed of dogs for owners who don’t have much time to take it for long walks, though they will want to spend time with it.

Special Grooming Needs

The coats of these dogs can easily be maintained. You will want to use a strong comb or brush, and they should only be washed when they need it. If you intend on using them in shows, you will want to strip their coats.
