Dera Ismail Khan (Urdu : ڈیرہ اسماعیل خان, Pashto: ډېره اسماعيل خان, Saraiki: ډېره اسماعيل خان), frequently shortened to D.I. Khan, is a city in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Province, Pakistan. It is arranged on the west bank of the Indus River, around 300 kilometers (190 mi) south of the common capital Peshawar and 190 kilometers (120 mi) northwest of Multan, Punjab. The city is the capital of the area and tehsil of a similar name. The larger part of populace speaks [Saraiki] Language. The aggregate populace of the city was 86,969 as indicated by the registration of 1998.
